Dr. Gregory Tarasidis to Serve as
2010-2011 SCMA President
Columbia, SC – Gregory Tarasidis, MD, FACS was installed as the as the 2009-2010 president-elect of the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA) and will serve the association as president during the 2010-2011 term.
Dr. Tarasidis is an otolaryngologist and currently practices at The Greenwood ENT Association in Greenwood, SC. Dr. Tarasidis received his medical degree (Magna Cum Laude) at Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed a general surgery internship and otolaryngology residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also completed a fellowship in head and neck oncology and microvascular free tissue transfer.
Dr. Tarasidis holds several present roles, which include; chairman of the South Carolina Physicians Assurance Company, district 3 representative to the SCMA MEDPAC Board, vice chairman to the board of The Outpatient Surgery Center (TOSC) at Self Regional Healthcare, chairman of the Cancer Committee at Self Regional Healthcare, and chairman of Self Regional Healthcare Surgical Services Committee. He has also held several distinguished roles in the past which include; president of the Greenwood County Medical Society and district 3 member of the Disciplinary Committee to the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.
As a member of the SCMA, Dr. Tarasidis has served the SCMA as a trustee for his district, executive committee member at large, as well as chairman and vice-chairman to the board of trustees. In addition to his SCMA membership, Dr. Tarasidis is also a fellow of both the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery, as well as a fellow to the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Tarasidis also holds membership in the American Medical Association and Greenwood County Medical Association.
Dr. Tarasidis and his wife Jamie currently reside in Greenwood and have two children; Anna and John.
